Saskatoon Youth Soccer Inc. - Timbits Soccer Dream League
Thanks to Tim Hortons, Saskatoon KidSport, SaskSport Dream Brokers Program, and the Saskatchewan Soccer Association, we offered an after school “Timbits Soccer Dream League” for the third fall and winter season and plan to do so again for fall/winter 2019-20.
This past year we had 27 male participants and 28 female participants who resided in underrepresented neighborhoods and attended Saskatoon community schools. The program is an organized after school league, giving children the feeling of belonging to a team and an opportunity to get a feel for the love of soccer. Each team has a dedicated certified coach with a background check. SaskSport Dream Broker's program covers all transportation costs and helps recruit and identify children in need of this program who normally unable to participate in organized sport due to socio economic challenges. Saskatchewan Soccer Association waives player and coach registration fees in order to make this program more accessible and affordable for SYSI to offer this program free of charge to participants. Tim Hortons provides each participant with a jersey, shorts, socks, a soccer ball, and a medal. Saskatoon KidSport provides grant funding to help cover equipment and coach honorariums as well as costs associated with the wrap up jamboree event at the SaskTel Sports Centre. We'd like to thank all those who help make this program possible!
We are very excited to offer a league to children who normally don’t participate in soccer due to financial and transportation barriers. The aim of this program is to expose soccer to underrepresented children in hopes that they will love the game and apply for KidSport funding in future years to join our main league with the help of transportation from the SaskSport Dream Brokers.
