Winter Programming Update

Jan. 19, 2021

Good Afternoon Zone Players, Parents, and Coaches:

With the Winter Season kicking off this past weekend, SYSI is pleased to share that the majority of our participating associations reported having an overwhelmingly positive response from those who were back on the pitch after a long break since the abrupt end to the Fall Season in late November.

Saskatchewan Soccer recently shared insight received from the government that a return to play is unlikely to happen before the end of March. We understand that this is disappointing news, however, we must continue to follow the guidelines so that youth athletes may have some form of recreation.

Upon receiving this update from our governing body, SYSI and our five-member Zone associations met last night to collectively agree on the continuation of winter season programming with current government guidelines in place. If the restrictions ease SYSI and the Zones will ensure that the safest form of the game is provided. At this time, SYSI will be working collaboratively with the Zones to bring further efficiencies to the programming schedules for February 1st onward.

You will also receive an additional communication from your Zone association, as such we encourage you to please hold off on contacting your Zone with any questions for the next 48 hours.

Sincerely,

Saskatoon Youth Soccer Inc.
